Jim Lelio — Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Lelio has been involved in numerous areas of the midstream energy industry for the past 22 years. His primary areas of focus have been in sales, marketing, finance and M&A transactional leadership at both the business unit and corporate levels. Roles have involved managing businesses as varied as pipelines, storage and logistics for crude & condensates, natural gas, natural gas liquids, refined products and biofuels. Prior to starting TopSail Energy, Mr. Lelio held a variety of commercial & finance roles within GATX Terminals Corporation and Koch Industries, Inc. including P&L leadership within Koch Pipelines, Koch Finance and Flint Hills Resources. For the past 15 years Mr. Lelio led commercial efforts for each of the Kinder Morgan, Inc. business units including KM Liquids Terminals, KM Canada, KM Products Pipelines, KM Natural Gas and Corporate Development.
Mr. Lelio received an MBA from the Eller School of Business at the University of Arizona and graduated with honors from the United States Naval Academy (‘87) before embarking on a distinguished career as a naval officer.
Larry Lawyer — Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Lawyer has been involved in the upstream and midstream industries for the past 29 years. He has served in senior leadership roles with a primary area of focus in capital raising, principal investing, M&A, strategy, sales and finance. Mr. Lawyer has advised and worked with family offices, private equity firms, private and public energy companies and finance firms. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Lawyer has started, grown and managed four different energy asset and service companies and advised and participated on the respective board of directors. Mr. Lawyer started his career as an investment banker with JPMorgan Chase.
Mr. Lawyer has served as special advisor to three private Board of Directors and served on the Finance Committee for a private for-profit domestic hospital. Mr. Lawyer is chairman for Eyes on Me (an inner-city evangelism and discipleship ministry), chairman for a private education company and a BOD member for United Health Partners. He also speaks at various energy conferences and is a panelist for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small business initiative.
Mr. Lawyer received an M.B.A. degree from the European Institute of Business Administration (“INSEAD”) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Management Information Systems from Southern Methodist University. Mr. Lawyer has a conversational knowledge of French and Spanish and holds a Series 79 and Series 63 securities license.
Jason Aguirre — Vice President / General Manager
Mr. Aguirre has been involved in numerous areas of the energy industry for the past eight years. His primary areas of focus have been in accounting, finance, marketing, deal structuring, project development and M&A transactional support at the business unit level. Roles have involved managing businesses and identifying expansion projects at various terminal locations which handled refined products and biofuels. Prior to partnering with the Management Team at TopSail, Mr. Aguirre started his career in public accounting at Deloitte in their Houston office. At Deloitte, Mr. Aguirre worked in their audit group focusing on Oil & Gas and manufacturing clients (’07-’10). For the past 5 ½ years Mr. Aguirre held positions in finance and business development in the KM Products Pipelines Business Unit participating in multiple expansion projects, due diligence efforts and M&A activity for the business unit. Mr. Aguirre received an MBA from Texas Tech University (2006) and BBA – Accounting from Texas Tech University (2005). Mr. Aguirre still maintains his CPA license in the State of Texas.
Walt Finch — Vice President Marketing & Sales
Mr. Finch has been involved in various environmental and recycling ventures throughout his 28 years of experience. His primary role included aggregating, transporting, and selling used motor oil and various fuels throughout the Gulf Coast, Mid-West, Northeast, and Southeast Regions of the United States. Mr. Finch has also worked on recycling projects internationally in the Bahamas, Nigeria, and The Ivory Coast. During six years at Noble Oil Services, Mr. Finch learned the used motor oil industry and is applying and expanding upon the experiences leaned at Noble at TopSail. Mr. Finch has a Chemistry degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (‘91), and after college began his career at Laidlaw Environmental Services in the hazardous waste industry. Mr. Finch’s experiences also includes 12 years as the owner of a land farm in North Carolina that treated petroleum contaminated soils from underground storage tank clean-ups and spills, as well as the founder and owner of LMS Energy, Inc. His nuanced market intelligence and career of industry relationships serve Mr. Finch as a valuable asset to the TopSail Management Team.
